Blepharoplasty FAQ
What is blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid surgery, is a surgical procedure in which extra eyelid skin is removed. The goal of blepharoplasty is to improve your appearance when skin shows signs of age such as drooping lids and bags beneath the eyes.
At Rancho Wellness Aesthetics, we specialize in upper lid blepharoplasty to give patients a fully rejuvenated look for the eyelids.
Can blepharoplasty be combined with other treatments?
Yes, in fact blepharoplasty combines very well with treatments like Botox®. The blepharoplasty surgery can eliminate the excess skin that's causing the sagging and the Botox can prevent lines and wrinkles.
How long will a blepharoplasty last?
Results are long lasting, but the exact results do vary by patient. For most patients, blepharoplasty results will last for years, enabling you to look considerably more youthful and rested than you would otherwise.
Are there any scars after a blepharoplasty?
Although there are some minor incisions required for a blepharoplasty, these incisions are concealed inside the lid, in the lash line, or hidden in the fold of the lid and will thus not be visible.
How long is the recovery after blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty, while a major surgery, has a quite short recovery time for most patients. The surgery can often be performed on an outpatient basis, allowing you to return to your regular routine within few days. You may experience some eye bruising and swelling for a few weeks, which can be alleviated with ice packs. Pain can be controlled by over-the-counter medication or prescription medicine from your Rancho Wellness Aesthetics physician. During recovery, avoid sunlight and indoor tanning. With proper skin care and good overall health care, you'll be able to maintain a younger look for years following a blepharoplasty.
